Karena Crawford

Karena Crawford is thrilled to return to her hometown and begin her second year of teaching at Warren Middle School. Prior to coming to Forney, she was the Assistant Band Director at Furlough Middle School in Terrell ISD. She taught beginning flutes, double reeds, and saxophones, as well as being the lead teacher for the Furlough Middle School Concert Band.

Ms. Crawford is an alumni of Warren Middle School and Forney High school. At Forney High School, she served as drum major for two years. Ms. Crawford went on to major in music education at Texas A&M University Commerce. While at Commerce, she performed in The “Pride” Color Guard for four years. She also played flute in the Symphonic Band, piccolo in The “Pride” of the Court Basketball Band, and alto flute in the TAMUC Flute Choir. 

Ms. Crawford is a member of Texas Bandmaster Association, Young Band Directors of Texas, National Flute Society, and Texas Music Educators Association. She recently received the Texas Music Education Association Collegiate Music Educator Award.

Ms. Crawford’s hobbies include collecting house plants, traveling, and cooking. She also has a three year old mini aussie named Tony.
